Taylor Mali - Spoken vs. Written Word

After watching Taylor Mali's live performance of the word poem "Like..you know", the written version of the same poem didn't resonate with the same effect for me. I thought that Mali saying the words how he wrote them put forth a much stronger message for the reader or audience member. I was surprised at how much of a difference it made to hear the words spoken, compared to reading them. I found myself laughing while watching the video of Mali reciting his word poem, and not finding as much humor while simply reading the words myself. I find that I as an audience member responded more to the "performance" and humor than just reading the words.
