I haven't done serious work with a crayon since probably kindergarten, so it was an interesting experience to write with one again. Typing on a computer gives a person probably too much room to babble and use too many useless words. Even a pen, or pencil and paper can give a writer this problem. However, I found that using a crayon really forced me to think about my words, how much I was writing (because lets face it, who wants to toil away at an essay with a crayon...) and my penmanship.
I enjoyed writing with a crayon because it reminded me of being in elementary school again and it is so very different then the typing we do everyday. I think working with different writing implements forces you to see your writing in different ways. I found myself concentrating a lot more on things I normally wouldn't have without a crayon in hand.
Count how frequently you employ "I" in this short post. What effect do you think such frequency has on the reader? Experiment in a re-post by re-working the writing to change every other "I" to another term. What happens then?
